National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) is renowned for its strengths in electrical engineering and computer science, medicine, engineering, science, and management. Over the past half century, NYCU alumni have made tremendous contributions to Taiwan’s high-tech and biomedical talent cultivation, community healthcare, and industrial development. In the past two decades, the university has also demonstrated outstanding achievements in teaching and research across fields such as architecture, design, the arts, law and technology, education, music, communication, the humanities and social sciences, and life sciences. Looking ahead, the university recognizes its responsibility to nurture the next generation of knowledge innovators and pioneering leaders with broad interdisciplinary capabilities.
To this end, after years of planning, NYCU established the “Hundred Rivers Undergraduate Program” in 2017. Through a special admission pathway for undergraduates, the program seeks students with exceptional talents and/or potential in areas such as interdisciplinary learning, critical inquiry, innovation and sustainability, leadership, humanistic literacy, or aesthetic thinking, along with a strong passion for learning.
NYCU has long been committed to fostering a supportive, open, and flexible learning environment that enables students to develop according to their individual strengths. The Hundred Rivers Program breaks through the traditional boundaries of departmental curricula, introducing diverse learning resources and approaches. As a pioneering interdisciplinary four-year undergraduate program in Taiwan, it embraces students from a wide range of professional backgrounds. We aspire for Hundred Rivers students to lead new trends, shape new models of life, pursue truth with dedication, and contribute meaningfully to the progress of civilization.
