Our department aims to train talents in the medical laboratory and biotechnology industries. Experimental diagnostic medicine is the center of our education and includes courses in basic sciences, fundamental medicine, biotechnology, precision medicine, regulations in medical technology, and quality management. All the classes and laboratory sessions provide solid academic and practical training. In the fourth year, students can choose Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taipei MacKay Memorial Hospital, and Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital for 20-22 weeks for a clinical internship.
During the studies, students can participate in short-term or longer-term research projects to explore their research interests and prepare for future entry into research institutes. Students are encouraged to take elective or interdisciplinary courses, such as bioinformatics, AI, or biophotonics, to develop a second expertise.
Over the years, students have performed well in the National Board Examination for Medical Technologists and earned high employer recognition. After graduation, some have entered research institutes while others work as medical technologists in clinical labs or biotechnology industries. Many of our students completed master’s or doctoral training and engaged in different areas such as biotechnology or biomedical industry, health administration, research, or teaching.
Scholarships – We encourage students to pursue a five-year (four-year bachelor’s and one-year master’s) dual-degree program. Applicants with outstanding academic or research performance may apply for this program and will receive a scholarship of up to NT$120,000.
